General Millworks traces its history back to 1892 with the formation of the Shannon Lumber Company in Memphis, TN. In 1980 we moved to the current 29 acre facility in nearby Horn Lake, Mississippi. In 2022, General Millworks acquired the facility and began expanding capacity and services to become the premier hardwood and pine lumber service center in the Mid-South.
Our location features 800,000 board feet of kiln capacity, 100,000 board feet of steamer capacity, and 2.5 million board feet of covered air drying sheds. In addition we operate a state of the art sorting line with 28 bay sorter and Lucidyne grade mark reader. We specialize in buying green pine and hardwood lumber which we then dry, grade, sort, market, and ship all over the world from five Memphis rail intermodal facilities.
With two planer mills, a full service moulder shop, and a remanufacturing facility, General Millworks can process over 2 million feet of hardwood or pine lumber each month.
We pay careful attention to all the specialty lumber we process.
We produce finished blanks and moulded products for many of our varied customer needs!
